AC Shadows Reveals Bizarre Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season

In a surprising crossover event that defies conventional forecasts, the game developer has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Disclosed

According to the official release, "A strange encounter pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of prohibited practices and fearsome transformations resonate through the darkness." The narrative introduces a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine group.

The mission focuses on "peculiar tests and a terrifying foe" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Changes

The preview features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer concludes with a dramatic scene showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Extra Material

Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an unique katana together with numerous artifacts secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

Third Free Story Update

This release also introduces the game's latest free story episode, titled "The Enigma." This playful quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive abilities: Naoe reveals a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
