Christantus Uche Sparks Comfortable Crystal Palace Triumph at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting at a rapid pace. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding win that virtually secures them a place in the Conference League playoffs.

A further three points in their next match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to secure straight passage to the knockout stages, especially after a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Moment

This match offered a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season proved no match against a largely rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were further depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

Dominance Asserted from the Outset

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton went close soon after, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee dismissed the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for a couple of robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
