Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then discovered numerous other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police say initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely human blood.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; authorities are presently not informed of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the residents for information.
An important political figure commented the attack rendered him without words and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
